MAJOR Book Catch-Up (Book Review: All Your Perfects by Colleen Hoover)

It has literally been forever and a day since I’ve blogged but that doesn’t mean I haven’t been reading 🙂

The past 2 months have been filled with work (I started a new role), travel, and basically living in survival mode.  The only good thing is that I’ve managed to squeeze in some good reading time.  Since my last post I’ve read:

  • The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Read
  • All Your Perfects by Colleen Hoover
  • The Perfect Couple by Elin Hilderbrand
  • Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens
  • From the Corner of the Oval by Becky Dorey-Stein
  • Winter in Paradise (Elin Hilderbrand)
  • Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman

Okay…I did not realize how bad I’ve been at maintaining this blog until I created that list.  I’ll also blame my absence on the fact that it took me a few days to recuperate after finishing An American Marriage.  AAM was hands down one of the best books I’ve read this year. The good news is…I have plenty to catch you all up on!

I’ll start with All Your Perfects.  This was my second book this year by Colleen Hoover and she did it again! Makes you fall in love with her main character as if she were your friend or sister.  But also makes you fall in love with the highs and lows of her relationship. In the case of All Your Perfects, you have Quinn and Graham. A couple that has been married for a few years and in spite of their years of best efforts, medicine, and turmoil, have been unsuccessful at conceiving a child.  The story goes from past to present telling of the early days of their romance and relationship.  Definitely the highs of meeting someone, falling in love and all of the beautiful moments that are captured in your heart and mind.  Fast-forward to the present and you meet two people that you wouldn’t recognize from their early days.  A couple who, while they still love each other dearly, are torn apart by the devastating reality of infertility.

As someone who has never had children but has watched so many of my friends and loved ones welcome beautiful babies into the world…this story was a rare glimpse into the other side of child-bearing. It’s definitely not always roses and happy endings.  For so many the reality is that it either takes them several years and attempts to have a successful pregnancy or, sadly, it may never happen. But Colleen, ever the romantic hopeful, gives you a great ending to the story which really is more of a beginning for the two main characters.

According to Goodreads I finished this book in 3 days….while still going to work during the day.  Needless to say, this book is an easy read that is such sweet and sorrowful love story.  Colleen is so good at what she does. I was fortunate to meet her when she stopped in Dallas on her book tour in July.  She was extremely sweet, funny, and quirky!

I give this one ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.  It’s too easy to read and fall in love with!
